Last Post- Last Pick

Last fall my husband and I played on in a softball league. If you know me at all, you’ll know that sports are NOT my thing. But I decided it would be fun just to get out one night a week for a month or so and make some friends. (I maybe knew all of 10 people around my new home after we got married.) Much to my surprise, I wasn’t terrible, (wasn’t great, but not terrible!) and we actually had some good laughs and lots of fun.

Fast forward to today and our spring league started tonight. We continue to earn our team name– Last Pick. We spend a lot of time in the field, and we get our three outs at bat kinda quick… But! We had a good time getting back together and I was still able to throw it back to DeLane on the mound without dying!

It was just a little chilly for me, but I’m excited for our next games. I like being able to get out and do something even if I’m not awesome at it. So wish us luck and we try to not get run ruled, and that we can score at least a couple every game. 🙂

The Unicorn…

imageSo around the beginning of this school year I went through a car wash that had the tri-color soap. I snapped the above picture and group texted my family, “oh no! I hit a unicorn!” Everyone sent back a quick reply and then we get my mom’s…

“Are you alright?!?”

A unicorn mom.. A unicorn. And so it began.

We found hunting regulations. We sent several emails detailing the best ways to hunt a unicorn. And then for thanksgiving my mother brought Jason unicorn poop… (Lucky charms marshmallows) and wore her multi-colored ‘unicorn’ shirt.

Not to be outdone my husband themed his Christmas presents to my mom.. We found an inflatable wall mount unicorn head, a unicorn hunting permit, and an 8×10 of my husband in all of his orange clothing (a gift from my mom) hunting unicorns with my pink bow.

Then we arrive at Jason’s Easter outfit… And the unicorn shirt that was gifted to him from my mom.

And I don’t see this dying out anytime soon…

Ugh

Remember when you were little and you’d fall asleep somewhere other than your bed? Whether it’s the car or the couch, it was magical to wake up in your bed. I sometimes wish I was still a kid just so when I fell asleep on the couch after a long day, someone would carry me back to my bed so I could keep sleeping.

I read a post today that said most twenty something’s still think that those in their thirties are actual adults. The comments back included, “when do you think they’ll realize that they are adults?” The reply back could have been from me– I’m just a kid with the ability to buy what I want.

I’ve been in a store and hollered to my parents that I needed an adult. They said they’d send my brother, and I cried out, “no! An adultier adult!” I know I am an adult, but there are definitely days that I can’t successfully adult. Those are the days I wish I had an adultier adult to adult for me.

You’re so punny!

imageI love a good pun. I love to tell my husband all of my corny jokes! And like you would guess, his face looks just like the exasperated huskie in the bottom picture. He always tells me not to quit my day job– but I think he secretly loves my awful jokes. 🙂

I used to help my mom with her concession stands and I would go through and read all the jokes on the Laffy Taffy sticks. I hoard those jokes like a squirrel hoards nuts.

I’ve got a soft spot for a good one liner or a great pun.

Two silk worms were in a race..

It ended in a tie!

Hit me up with your best corny joke! I’ll be sure to share them with my husband!

He is Risen!

What a wonderful day! I love Easter Sunday! Of course the egg hunts growing up, and the chocolate bunnies in our baskets. But I also remember going to sunrise services as a little girl and getting my new Easter dresses every year for church. (I still make sure to go get a new dress for Easter Sunday…) I love the resurrection story. How God could give up his son to take my punishment has only become more astounding as I have gotten older.

Yesterday and for part of this afternoon Jason and I watched The Bible mini-series. It is such an incredible representation of the word of God and done in such a tasteful way. I watch in amazement and every year the brutality that Jesus endured on our behalf becomes more real.

Easter Sunday also holds a special place in my heart for another reason. When I was 8 years old I gave my life to Christ and was baptized by my father that Easter. Hard to believe that was 17 years ago.

So today we went and celebrated the resurrection at church and then headed home for a lunch with family and friends. Of course there was bunny bread!

imageAnd of course, unicorn fun was had by all…  But that’s another story for another day…

An ode to my love:

Your tart and tangy ways make me happy

your crunch is music to my ears.

You are often a garnish on many a plate

but I like to garnish you occasionally with popcorn.

You come in many forms

but I prefer just one.

You’re just a condiment to some

to me, you are a stand alone food.

Oh dill pickles.

I love you.

Throwback Thursday

“As if!”

Nothing can complete this Thursday more that a blast to the past. I love Clueless. Always have. It’s ridiculous and really has no point, but there are definitely parts I can relate to. One that comes to mind is when Cher tells us, “I feel like such a heifer. I had two bowls of Special K, three pieces of turkey bacon, a handful of popcorn, five peanut butter M&M’s and like three pieces of licorice.”

That could literally be me any given weekend or school break! Granted it’d be more like several handfuls of popcorn, multiple peanut butter M&M’s, and like half the bag of licorice…. but you get the idea.

I love this movie and get excited anytime I stumble upon it on my satellite tv guide. It also makes me question when, oh when, will the glorious 90’s fashions come back?! We’ve seen the leggins make a comeback, and I swear I saw stirrup pants in a magazine the other day. Neon is a thing again, as are those chunky 70’s heels. Baroque prints!? It all comes back around. With my luck, the fashion of my childhood will probably be cool when I’m officially too old to wear it. *sigh*
